The Law & Economics Center is hosting the Thirteenth Annual Invitational Antitrust Moot Court Competition in conjunction with the Antonin Scalia Law School Moot Court Board and Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

This Moot Court Invitational is the only moot court competition in the United States devoted exclusively to antitrust law and offers a unique opportunity for invited law schools. Teams will not only compete against a diverse group of students but will also have the opportunity, if they wish, to attend the Antonin Scalia Law School Law Review’s antitrust symposium on Friday, February 19, 2027.

The preliminary rounds of the competition will begin on Saturday, February 20, 2027, at the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School and will be judged by current antitrust practitioners. The final rounds will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2027, at the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and will be judged by prominent antitrust enforcers and academics. Previous final round judges have included Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg, United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit; Renata B. Hesse, former Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust for the United States Department of Justice; Alexandre Cordeiro Macedo, Head of the Brazilian Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE); Reiko Aoki, Commissioner at the Japan Fair Trade Commission; and Ian S. Forrester, former Judge on the General Court of the European Union.

The moot court case record and rules will be released to competitors on December 1, 2026, and competitors’ briefs will be due on January 23, 2027, at 11:59 pm EST. Teams will be responsible for preparing arguments for both sides but are only required to prepare a brief for one assigned side. Team assignments for briefs will be released concurrently with the competition problem.
