The Public Law, Economics, and Policy Institute is a six-day educational program that helps state Attorneys General, Solicitors General, and their staff attorneys improve their understanding of the basic economic principles often found at the heart of legal and public policy disputes.

Through interactive, classroom-style lectures, Institute participants will receive a solid grounding in economic concepts and methods and learn how these tools can be applied in the analysis of public law and public policy issues. Topics covered in Institutes include market imperfections; taxation; risk and cost-benefit analysis; antitrust and competition policy; public nuisance; public entity litigation; government settlements; consumer protection; employment and labor law; crime and punishment; environmental policy; cannabis law and policy; economic liberties; political speech; and other critical areas of concern. The course format includes a mixture of lectures and analysis of related cases. Ample time will be set aside for participants to interact with and learn from instructors and their fellow participants outside the classroom.
