Join us for a spirited and informative look at some of the decisions from the US Supreme Court’s past term in the arena of civil justice, such as Bristol Myers-Squibb vs. Superior Court of California and TC Heartland v. Kraft Foods, judgments involving so-called forum-shopping. This program will examine these cases and other recent decisions.
These educational programs were initiated by a bipartisan caucus of House members in 2011 as a vehicle to advance understanding of civil justice issues affecting the economy and the free enterprise system. The Academy honors this goal by offering a forum for the rigorous examination of relevant civil justice issues, a balanced exchange of perspectives, and an opportunity for more informed public policy discussions.
